This Cookie Policy explains how Memberpad LLC ("MemberPad," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website or use our platform. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which provides additional detail on how we collect and use your personal information. By continuing to browse or use our platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Cookie Policy.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to provide a better user experience, and to give website operators useful information about how their site is being used. Cookies can be "persistent" (remaining on your device until they expire or you delete them) or "session-based" (deleted automatically when you close your browser).
In addition to cookies, we may also use similar technologies such as web beacons (also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs), local storage, and session storage. These technologies serve similar purposes to cookies and are used to collect and store information about your usage of our platform. References to "cookies" throughout this policy include these similar technologies unless otherwise specified.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for several important purposes that help us deliver a secure, functional, and personalized experience on our platform. Cookies enable us to authenticate your identity when you log in, maintain your session as you navigate between pages, remember your preferences and settings, and protect your account from unauthorized access. Without these essential cookies, many core features of MemberPad would not function properly.
Beyond essential functionality, we use cookies to understand how our users interact with the platform. This includes tracking which pages are visited most frequently, how users navigate through the platform, and where users may encounter errors or difficulties. This data helps us make informed decisions about product improvements, feature development, and performance optimization. We use this information in aggregate and do not use analytics cookies to identify individual users.
Cookies also help us measure our own advertising. When we advertise MemberPad on Google, Google Ads cookies tell us whether a visit that began with one of those ads led to a sign up. The Marketing Cookies section below explains where these cookies are used and where they are not.
We also use cookies to personalize your experience on MemberPad. Functional cookies remember your display preferences, language settings, and other customizations so that you do not need to reconfigure them each time you visit. These cookies make the platform more convenient and tailored to your individual needs.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of our platform. They keep you logged in to your account as you move between pages, let a page you have open recover when we release a new version of MemberPad, and, on a community's own custom domain, tell the platform which community to show. We keep your login in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, so clearing your browser's site data for MemberPad also logs you out. Essential cookies cannot be disabled without significantly impacting your ability to use MemberPad, as the platform relies on them for basic operations like maintaining your login state.
Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how users interact with our platform by collecting information about usage patterns, page views, and navigation behavior. These cookies provide us with aggregate data that we use to monitor platform performance, identify popular features, and detect areas that may need improvement. Analytics data is anonymized and never used to personally identify you. We use this information solely to improve the quality and relevance of our platform for all users.
Functional Cookies
Functional cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization on our platform. They remember choices you make, such as your preferred theme (light or dark mode) before you have an account, whether the side menu and its sections are collapsed, the tab you last opened in each community, the emoji you used recently, and your video player's volume. They also carry a promo code you entered through account creation and keep the draft of a lesson note you have not saved yet. While not strictly necessary, functional cookies significantly improve your experience by making the platform feel more responsive to your individual preferences.
Marketing Cookies
We advertise MemberPad on Google. When you visit memberpad.com, Google Ads places cookies whose names begin with _gcl_ (such as _gcl_au and _gcl_aw) and keeps them for up to 90 days. They let Google tell us whether a visit that began with a click on one of our ads led to a sign up. Google may also use its own cookies, set on Google's websites, to make that connection. Google's use of this information is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
We use these cookies only to measure whether our advertising works. We do not use them to show you ads based on your visits to MemberPad (often called remarketing), and we do not display third-party advertisements on our platform.
These cookies are placed only on memberpad.com. They are not placed on a community's own custom domain or in our iOS, Android, and desktop apps. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we do not place them at all: there, Google Ads runs without advertising cookies and without the ad click identifier, so Google can only estimate our results in aggregate. Anywhere else, you can block or delete them at any time in your browser's settings, as described under Managing Cookies below, without affecting how MemberPad works.
Separately from Google Ads, we keep a record of how you found a community, or MemberPad itself, whenever the link you followed carries one: a member's referral code, a recommendation from another community, or campaign tags such as utm_source along with any ad click identifier. The record stays in your browser's local storage, and if you join or sign up while it still counts, the member, community, or campaign that sent you gets the credit. Unlike the Google Ads cookies, these records are kept in every region, and on custom domains as well as on memberpad.com. The Cookie Table below lists each one and how long it counts.
4. Cookie Table
The tables below list the cookies, and the entries in local storage and session storage, that MemberPad uses when you visit memberpad.com or a community's custom domain in a web browser. Durations for the cookies Google and Mux set are those companies' defaults, and your browser may delete any cookie sooner. A name written with braces, such as ref_{community}, stands for one entry per community, lesson, or assignment submission.
Cookies
Local Storage and Session Storage
Entries in local storage have no expiry date of their own. They stay until MemberPad removes them or you clear your browser's site data, and where an entry only counts for a limited time, the table says so. Entries in session storage are deleted when you close the tab.
5. Managing Cookies
You have control over the cookies stored on your device. Most web browsers allow you to manage your cookie preferences through their settings. You can typically configure your browser to block all cookies, accept all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is being set so you can decide whether to accept it on a case-by-case basis. The process for managing cookies varies by browser; you can usually find instructions in your browser's help or settings menu.
Below are links to cookie management instructions for commonly used browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies
Please note that blocking or deleting essential cookies may prevent certain features of MemberPad from functioning correctly. For example, you may be unable to log in, your session may not persist between pages, and security features may be impaired. If you choose to block essential cookies, we cannot guarantee that the platform will work as intended. Non-essential cookies (analytics, functional, and marketing) can be disabled without affecting core platform functionality, though your experience may be less personalized.
6. Third-Party Cookies
In some cases, we may use trusted third-party services that place cookies on your device on our behalf. These third-party cookies are used for purposes such as analytics, performance monitoring, error tracking, and measuring our own advertising. We carefully vet all third-party providers to ensure they meet our standards for data protection and privacy. Third-party cookies are subject to the respective privacy policies of those providers.
We do not allow third parties to use cookies on our platform for their own advertising or marketing purposes, and no cookie on our platform is used for remarketing. Apart from the Google Ads cookies described under Marketing Cookies, which measure our own advertising, any third-party cookies present on our platform are used solely to support the functionality and improvement of the MemberPad service. We regularly audit the third-party cookies on our platform to ensure compliance with our privacy standards and to remove any cookies that are no longer necessary.
Stripe, which processes payments, sets no cookies on memberpad.com. When you pay for a membership or a purchase in your browser, you do so on Stripe's own checkout page, where Stripe's cookie policy applies.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in technology, or changes in applicable laws and regulations. When we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through a banner on our platform or via email. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
Your continued use of MemberPad after any changes to this Cookie Policy constitutes your acknowledgment of those changes. If we introduce a new category of cookies, we will describe it in this policy before we place it on your device, and where the law requires your consent to it, we will not place it without that consent.
