Event Series Are Here: Schedule Recurring Programs That Feel Like Programs
For the longest time, MemberPad has supported events. You could schedule a call, collect RSVPs, send reminders, post a replay. Good, simple, useful.
But a lot of what actually happens inside communities isn't a single event. It's a series. A four-week challenge. A monthly book club. A weekly office hours that runs for a season. A twelve-session mastermind. These aren't one-off events dressed up. They're programs, and they deserved a feature that treats them that way.
Starting today, MemberPad has Event Series. You can schedule a coherent multi-session program, collect one registration that covers everyone, handle reminders and replays as a single connected thread, and give members a proper "program" page that feels like a program, not a pile of calendar entries.
This post is about why we built it, what it does, and how to use it.
The Problem We Were Actually Solving
We started from a specific pain point we kept seeing.
A creator wants to run an eight-week weekly group call. In the old system, they had to:
Create eight separate events.
Manually set each one to recur on the right day.
Write eight near-identical descriptions.
Configure reminders for each event separately.
Post replays as individual posts and hope members could find them all.
Hope members RSVP'd to each week instead of just forgetting after the first.
At the end of eight weeks, the "series" existed in name only. There was no single page members could visit to see the arc of the program. There was no continuity. Worst of all, the registration experience felt clunky, "RSVP again for week 3? Really?"
We built Event Series so that this entire workflow collapses into one clean, coherent thing.
What Event Series Actually Does
When you create an Event Series, you get:
A single registration. Members register once and they're in for the whole series. They get calendar invites for every session, reminders before each one, and a consistent experience across the whole program.
A series home page. One beautiful page that shows the arc of the series: all sessions, dates, topics, descriptions, presenters, and past replays in sequence. Members can see exactly where they are, what's coming, and what they've missed.
Unified reminders. You write one reminder template. The system sends the right version before each session, with the correct date, topic, and any session-specific prep notes.
Linked replays. After each session, post the replay. It automatically threads to the series page under the right session, so members can catch up without hunting.
Attendance tracking across sessions. See at a glance who's attended every session, who's missed a few, who hasn't shown up at all. Intervene accordingly.
Series-level discussion. A dedicated discussion thread attached to the series as a whole, so conversation across sessions has a home.
That's it. No wild complexity. Just the minimum you need for a program to feel like a program.
The Patterns Event Series Supports
Here are the main shapes creators use Event Series for, based on our beta group.
The recurring office hours. "Every Wednesday at 12pm ET, for 12 weeks." A drop-in format. No prep required. Members come and go based on what's useful.
The weekly cohort call. Part of a broader cohort program (like the ones we wrote about recently). The series lives inside a dedicated cohort space.
The monthly book club. "First Sunday of each month, 10am PT, for six months, one book a month." The series page becomes the book club's home.
The limited-run workshop. "Four sessions over four weeks to build your first landing page." Packaged, marketed, and run as a coherent program.
The seasonal program. "Spring Running Series: 12 Saturday morning runs from April through June." Members register once and come when they can.
For most creators, one or two of these patterns map directly to how you already run your community. Event Series just makes running them less of a chore.
Design Choices We're Proud Of
A few small things we took extra care on.
One registration, one cancellation. Members who register for a series and then decide it's not for them can unregister from the entire series in one click. They don't have to unregister from each session. This sounds obvious and was surprisingly rare in other tools we looked at.
Flexible cadence. Event Series supports weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or fully custom cadences. If you want to do "every Tuesday and Thursday for two weeks, then weekly for the next four," you can.
Mid-series changes without breaking the experience. If you need to move a session or skip a week, you can. Members get a clear "this session has been rescheduled" notice. Past replays and future sessions stay linked.
Series as gifts. You can grant access to an entire series (free or paid) as a group. Useful for bringing in a guest expert's cohort, or comping a specific tier of members into a special program.
Partial session access. You can restrict specific sessions to certain member tiers without affecting others. "All members can join sessions 1 and 2, but sessions 3-8 are for Premium only." This unlocks some interesting tier design.
How to Create Your First Event Series
Go to Events → New Series.
Name it, describe it, pick a cover image.
Add sessions (dates, times, topics, presenters).
Set who can register (free, paid, tier-restricted).
Publish.
The flow is designed so that creating an 8-session series takes about the same time as creating a single event used to. If you already have events you've been running as a de facto series, you can bundle them into a series retroactively with a few clicks.
A Small Note on Pricing
Event Series is included on every paid MemberPad plan at no additional cost. There are no extra per-series fees, no per-session fees, no limits on how many you can run.
We're a community platform. Events are core to how communities operate. Paywalling the basics of this feature would have been the wrong call.
What's Coming Next for Series
A few things on the near-term roadmap for Event Series:
Waitlists for capped series, so you can run a 20-person mastermind and have members queue up for the next cohort automatically.
Cross-series attendance so members can see the full history of their participation across every series they've been part of.
Better presenter management for series with multiple instructors rotating in.
Series templates so if you run a quarterly program, you can stamp out the next instance with one click.
These will roll out over the summer. As always, we build based on what creators actually use and ask for.
Give It a Spin
If you've been running anything in your community that happens more than once on a schedule, try converting it into an Event Series this week. A weekly check-in call. A monthly Q&A. A book club. A seasonal challenge.
Members will notice the difference immediately. The registration feels cleaner. The reminders feel less spammy. The replays are where you'd expect them. The whole thing feels more like a program and less like scattered calendar noise.
And you'll notice the difference too. What used to take 45 minutes of event setup per cycle now takes about 5.
That's the feature in a sentence. A bunch of small quality-of-life wins for both sides.
See you in the next session.
