Every comparison

Each one opens with what the other platform is genuinely good at, states at least one thing MemberPad does worse, and links every claim to the page it came from.

a community first platformMemberPad vs CircleThe most polished community product in this comparison, with a real website builder and automations. You pay for it every month whether the community earns or not.Verified 2026-11-07 · 9 sourcesa simple community and course toolMemberPad vs SkoolDeliberately simple, and better at making people show up every day than anything else here. What it leaves out is the point, not an oversight.Verified 2026-11-07 · 6 sourcesa community platform with branded appsMemberPad vs Mighty NetworksThe clearest path to an app with your own name on it, and the one platform here that publishes exactly how many hours of live video each plan includes.Verified 2026-11-07 · 6 sourcesa course and marketing suiteMemberPad vs KajabiThe most complete selling machine here: funnels, landing pages, email automation and drip courses. It is priced like one, and its cheapest plan caps you at five products and one community.Verified 2026-11-07 · 8 sourcesa membership platform for fansMemberPad vs PatreonThe name your audience already knows, with the smoothest path from a casual fan to a paying one. What it is not is a place to teach, and your members belong a little to Patreon as well as to you.Verified 2026-11-07 · 10 sourcesa publishing and newsletter networkMemberPad vs SubstackA far more capable product than its newsletter reputation suggests, with real podcast feeds, native live streaming and a network that sends you readers. It has no courses, and no rooms for members to meet in.Verified 2026-11-07 · 7 sourcesa free real time chat platformMemberPad vs DiscordThe best real time chat and voice anywhere, free, on every device including consoles. Its monetization is United States only, capped at three tiers, and restricted by a content policy worth reading before you build on it.Verified 2026-11-07 · 6 sourcesa simple storefront for creatorsMemberPad vs PodiaThe friendliest all in one storefront here, with courses, downloads, a website and email in one calm product. Its email subscriber caps are the lowest in this comparison and it has no mobile app at all.Verified 2026-11-07 · 7 sourcesa course platform for instructorsMemberPad vs TeachableA serious course platform with drip release, quizzes and unlimited students on every plan. The $39 tier has no community and no custom domain, and certificates wait until $189.Verified 2026-11-07 · 7 sourcesa course platform with spacesMemberPad vs ThinkificA mature course builder that grew a community around the lessons. Its cheapest plan is $109 a month, and every plan below Plus stops at ten thousand students.Verified 2026-11-07 · 7 sourcesa free group inside a social networkMemberPad vs Facebook GroupsFree, already installed on everybody’s phone, and genuinely good at conversation. Charging for it means handing Meta up to 30%, and you never hold the list of who joined.Verified 2026-11-07 · 9 sourcesa workplace chat toolMemberPad vs SlackThe chat tool a great many communities start in by accident. It is priced per person for work teams, and there is no way to charge anybody for being there.Verified 2026-11-07 · 6 sourcesa community platform with coursesMemberPad vs HeartbeatClosest in shape to MemberPad of anything here: community, courses, events and payments in one product. It counts your members, and the cheapest plan stops at 350 of them.Verified 2026-11-07 · 7 sources

Which one is right for you

A leaderboard running from the day you open the doors

Skool

Points, levels and rewards, ranked from day one. MemberPad has the same mechanics, but its board stays off until you switch it on.

Funnels, landing pages and abandoned cart recovery

Kajabi

Landing pages, funnels, order bumps, upsells and behavior triggered email, none of which MemberPad has any version of.

An app in the stores with your own name on it

Mighty Networks

Mighty Pro publishes branded apps on both stores. MemberPad cannot do that at any price, and always shows a Powered by MemberPad link.

No cut taken out of any sale you make

Teachable or Podia

Teachable Builder at $89 and Podia Shaker at $84 take nothing per sale beyond processing, so past roughly $950 a month they cost less than our 9%.

A network that brings you readers you did not already have

Substack

Readers find publications through Substack itself, through recommendations and cross posting. MemberPad has a public directory and creator recommendations, on a far smaller scale.

A course that opens on a schedule, or once a member has earned it

MemberPad

A section or lesson opens on a date, or a set number of days after each member starts. A whole course can also open at a level they reach.

A paid podcast your members hear in their normal podcast app

MemberPad

Hosting plus an authenticated RSS feed unique to each member. Substack, Patreon and Kajabi host audio too; most community platforms here do not.

Community, courses, podcasts and live video with no monthly bill

MemberPad

All four in one product, at 9% of what a member pays and nothing before that. No other platform here does all four, and the only one hosting both courses and podcasts, Kajabi, starts at $179 a month.

How this was checked

Every figure about another platform on these pages came from that platform’s own published pricing, feature or documentation pages, and each one is listed with the date it was read. Where a company does not publish an answer, the page says that rather than guessing at one.

Nothing here is based on testing a competitor’s product hands on, and no page claims otherwise. Claims about MemberPad are checked against the code that ships rather than against our own marketing, which is why several of them are unflattering.

Fee comparisons put both sides on the same footing. Some platforms quote a percentage that already covers card processing and some quote one that sits on top of it, and treating those two numbers as the same thing is the most common way a comparison like this misleads.

Who published it

This comparison was written and published by MemberPad, so read it knowing we make one of the two products in it. We have tried to earn your trust the only way that works, which is by being specific about what the other platform does better and where ours falls short.

Competitor pricing and features change. If you find something here that is out of date or wrong, the sources and the date we checked them are listed on every page so you can see exactly what we were looking at, and we would rather hear about it than have it sit here.

Drew AumanFounder, MemberPad

The only way to really know is to build one.

Creating a community is free, and the 9% only applies once a member pays you something.
